Facilities

At First Friends we are passionate about what experience we can offer each child. We fervently believe that just as technology is a way of life nowadays so is play. Children use all their senses to learn and if one of their senses is not developed properly a wobbly foundation for learning can be developed. The facilities we offer combine both.

We offer modern classrooms with a touch of home away from home. Science, technology (via tablets with educational games), excellent fantasy and educational equipment is a part of every classroom.

We have two outdoor play areas, one for the younger children and one for the older kids. Our play areas are unique in the way that they have a sensory path, wet and dry sand pit, sensory (touch and feel) garden, a musical and drama amphitheatre, bicycle track, mud kitchen and a shallow stream that flows throughout the playground, bridges that can be used to cross over and amazing jungle gyms designed for each age group. We have a vegetable garden where the children will learn to plant, take care of and identify various vegetables and things that live under the ground.

Meanwhile, in the herb garden, budding botanists care for plants, witnessing their growth from seed to harvest and learning about sustainability firsthand. These facilities aren’t just amenities; they’re gateways to holistic learning, where children cultivate a deeper connection to the natural world and each other.

We have a kitchen on our premises where the children will learn to cook and bake. These lessons are done by our qualified Cordon Bleu chef and baking expert, Dianne Marques. She has a fabulous programme for the children, which incorporates using our very own produce from the vegetable garden. We are extremely fortunate to have her work with us and to teach the children a love for cooking and baking.

We are blessed to have Jump and Glow as part of our weekly curriculum. Rebounding as it’s known is a type of aerobic exercise with a fun component, this is performed on a mini trampoline called a rebounder. Rebounding has excellent benefits for children, by doing Jump and Glow, among other things improves balance, coordination, motor skills, social skills, posture capacity & skills for breath control, increases fitness levels, muscle strength, improving midline crossing and flexibility and many more benefits for our children.

In our dynamic sensory integrated kindergarten, children’s exploration of nature takes centre stage. Here, the mud kitchen offers hands-on experiences that sparks creativity and curiosity. In the mud kitchen, little chefs concoct imaginative dishes from mud, leaves, and stones, fostering sensory development and social interaction. In the new drama theatre, our little actors and actresses get to show off their talents in fine amateur dramatic fashion, which enhances their imagination, creativity, communication, and social skills.

Security

We have a fingerprint system in place that will only allow those parents/guardians/caregivers who have had their fingerprint recorded in the device to have access to the property.

Due to a first school day that can be a bit chaotic, we encourage new parents/guardians/caregivers to come and have their fingerprints recorded the day before school starts.

We have surveillance cameras and Beagle Watch Security Company who are associated with us. There is a security vehicle parked outside our facility at drop off times.
